Mindfulness

“In mindfulness one is not only restful and happy, but alert and awake. Meditation is not evasion; it is a serene encounter with reality.”

-Thich Nhat Hanh

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is intentionally bringing an open quality of attention to your experience in the present moment. This mindful awareness helps you to more fully appreciate and enjoy your experiences, including relationships. It also helps you to reduce the distress that often comes with difficult thoughts, feelings, and sensations, while improving your ability to be more at ease. This can be especially helpful in working through challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, anger, addiction, and pain, or in changing problematic behaviors.

Mindfulness-based therapy involves learning and practicing meditation techniques or other strategies to help you apply this skill in your daily life. I’ve been practicing mindfulness meditation and incorporating it in my work as a therapist since 2012. I’ve seen this yield life-changing results for many people, and I consider it an honor to share this practice with others.
